Suitcase Joe is an anonymous street photographer based in Los Angeles. He is best known for his decades-long work documenting life on Skid Row, culminating in his first photo book, Sidewalk Champions, published by Burn Barrel Press. For his Sophomore book, Grey Flowers, he focuses on other Los Angeles neighborhoods, chronicling raw, gritty underworld scenery. For Suitcase Joe, it's often with the overlooked and misunderstood that he finds beauty through his lens.
LA Weekly described Suitcase Joe's work as "intimate and raw, his photos often bypass voyeurism in favor of presence, proximity and empathy."
